How to develop the Kuyavian-Pomeranian region?
Agriculture, green order, cultural heritage, or digitization – these are the very specializations that could become the flywheel for the region's development. Public consultations on the draft Regional Smart Specialization Strategy have begun. This is one of the documents that will determine the direction of the province's development.

Their customers are mainly farmers.There are fewer and fewer microorganisms in their soils and we are looking for alternative methods too due to the price of fertilizers. Microorganisms allow us to use much smaller doses of artificial fertilizers In this room there are reactors that are used to grow microorganisms, which are used in later stages to produce organisms," explains Agata Franke, microbiologist at Bacto-Tech.The company is the result of years of experience and scientific research by microbiologists from Nicolaus Copernicus University. It was established in 2015. At the beginning it was formed by three people, now it has ten employees. Production has increased from a few dozen liters per month to several thousand.Previously, we gave chemistry to the fields, now we are trying to replace chemistry with biology. There are a lot of compounds in the soil that are inactive, our bacteria help activate these compounds- explains Krystian Kurkiewicz, technologist of Bacto-Tech.The development of a modern and competitive economy is largely based on smart specializations. These are activities with unique and innovative strengths. They affect the competitiveness of the entire region's economy and influence how it is perceived.Specializations primarily serve to take advantage of specific opportunities, conditions of the potentials of the region, so everyone is looking for the kind of niches that are characteristic of the region, but also, which is very important, there is a scientific and research base for the development of these specializations," notes Adam Stańczyk, director of the Department of Planning, Sustainable Development and Science at the Marshal's Office in Toruń.In our region, these include healthy food, health tourism, creative industries, and transportation.The provincial board invites you to participate in public consultations on the draft Regional Smart Specialization Strategy. The consultations will last until the end of May.
